Batavia Police Report Forgery Investigation

Batavia Blotter: Other items include a turned-in .22-caliber rifle and the happy news of a lost backpack eventually found.

The Batavia Police Department reported a forgery but can't say much more than that because the case is still under investigation.

The forgery was one of several miscelleous items in the Batavia blotter from April 22 to April 29, including the following:

Forgery—The forgery was reported in the 600 block of Paddock Lane at 4:42 p.m. April 24. "This forgery case is still pending investigation," Batavia Detective Sgt. Shawn Mazza said. "The assigned detective is currently working on locating a suspect offender and other necessary financial documents that may help us prove a criminal case."

Turned-In Porperty—A resident of the 400 block of Woodland Hills Road turned in a Savage 22-caliber long rifle for destruction around 7:53 a.m. April 27, reports said.

Lost Property—A complainant reported a lost backpack containing an Apple iTouch, clothes and a lock around 12:33 p.m. April 27 in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, reports said. The subject later contacted the Batavia Police Department to say he had located the backpack and nothing was missing.

Stray Dog—A black and white male Shih Tzu was found in the 1000 block of Basswood Court, according to a report filed around 7:47 p.m. April 26. The owner came to the Police Department and retrieved her dog. The owner was issued a warning for Dog at Large. 

Stray Dog—A complainant found a Yellow Lab/Weimaraner mix in her yard. The dog was caught and held. An ordinance citation was issued for Dog at Large in a report filed at 4:33 p.m. April 25 in the 1300 block of Meadowrue Lane.
