Batavia Police Report 2 More Residential Burglaries
The burglaries are both reported on Nov. 7, but the circumstances are different.
Electronics once again were the targets of two daytime residential burglaries in Batavia, police said Thursday.
It is unknown whether the two burglaries are related, Batavia Sgt. Shawn Mazza said. Both burglaries took place during the day Nov. 7 and both were on the East Side of Batavia, but that's where the similarities end.
The first burglary was reported to a single-family home in the 200 block of South Forest Avenue, according to a report filed at about 3:17 p.m. There was no apparent forced entry, but the house was ransacked. The burglar or burglars took electronic devices, small change and cash and liquor, Mazza said.
The second was reported in an apartment in the 1100 block of East Wilson Street, according to a report filed at 8:12 p.m. Nov. 7. The resident was gone from about about 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., and the burglary took place during that time period, Mazza said. The resident told police a door might have been left unlocked.
"We have some leads we’re following up on them," Mazza said.
