Batavia Police: Man Pulls Knife During Road Rage Incident

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents on April 2-3 and early morning April 4. Here they are in chronological order:

April 2

8:42 a.m.—Truancy

Three juveniles were transported to Batavia High School after they were found south of the school on the west side.

The three students all admitted that they didn't want to attend their first class, according to a police report. An officer encountered the students at Millview Drive and Newton Avenue.

The students were all issued city ordinance citations for truancy. All their parents were notified by the school's Liaison Officer.

10:02 a.m.—Aggravated Assault

A man allegedly pulled out a knife during an incident of road rage on Batavia's east side.

The man displayed a large kitchen knife and threatened to cut another driver, according to a police report. The incident occurred on Kirk Road at Wilson Street.

The man was driving a four-door Silver Ford Focus. Someone provided the following description of the man:

  • White male
  • Age: 30s
  • Thin build
  • Short light brown hair
  • Wore gray baseball cap

The person was unable to obtain a plate number for the man's car.

1:26 p.m.—Theft Under $500

An incident of theft and unauthorized use of a credit card was reported on Batavia's east side.

An online purchase of $172.35 was made for a bicycle on March 3, according to a police report. This incident was reported from the 1000 block of Kingsland Avenue.

The credit card was cancelled and a new account number was issued.

2:49 p.m.—Simple Assault

A verbal dispute was reported between two people on Batavia's east side.

One subject was "advised against using gestures in a threatening manner," according to a police report. The incident occurred on the 200 block of North Van Buren Street.

4:29 p.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 31-year-old woman is headed to court after an incident on the west side.

Lilia Gonzalez-Herrera, of the 1300 block of Monomoy Street, was cited for the following:

  • Operating an uninsured vehicle
  • No valid drivers license
  • Speeding

The incident occurred on Randall Road south of Main Street, according to a police report.

Gonzalez-Herrera posted $200 bond. Her court date is May 8.

4:47 p.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 26-year-old Batavia man is headed to court after an incident on the east side.

Jason A. Devincent, of the 500 block of Stewart Street, was cited for the following:

  • Driving while license revoked
  • No valid registration
  • Operating an uninsured vehicle
  • Improper use of registration

The incident occurred on East Wilson Street and South Washington Avenue, according to a police report.

Devincent posted $150 bond. His court date is May 8.

April 3

1:44 p.m.—Neighborhood Trouble

Residents reported some unwanted items in their backyard on Batavia's east side.

They have noticed different items being thrown in the yard on several occasions. These incidents occurred on the 1400 block of Surrey Road, according to a police report.

The items placed in the yard are thought to be making their dog sick. The items were not specified in the report, which was incomplete.

4:12 p.m.—Solicitor Permits

A person was reported selling AT&T services with no permit on the east side.

The person was advised of permit procedures and to cease soliciting until a permit could be obtained. This incident happened on the 500 block of South Van Buren Street, according to a police report.

April 4

1:56 a.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 34-year-old Aurora resident is headed to court after an incident on the west side.

Yeni Gomez-Magno, of the 1000 block of Highland Avenue, was cited for no valid drivers license and operating an uninsured vehicle. The incident occurred at Randall Road and Main Street, according to a police report.

Gomez-Magno posted $150 bond and was released with a court date of May 15.
