Batavia Police ID Man Found Near Fox River Trail

Trauma was observed in the area of the man's head, police said. Here is his identity.

Police on Tuesday identified the 46-year-old man who was found unconscious and not breathing Monday morning near the Fox River in Batavia.

The man is Brett C. Straight of the 200 block of East New York Street in Aurora, according to a press release.

Trauma was observed in the area of Straight's head, police said, but did not elaborate in the release.

An autopsy on Straight's body has been completed by the Kane County Coroner's Office, but the cause and manner of death have yet to be determined pending autopsy and toxicology results.

on the shoreline of the Fox River in an area east of the 500 block of North Batavia Avenue, police said.

A west-side portion of the Fox River Trail in Batavia was the incident. The area stretched from a point about 50 feet south of the Fabyan Bridge all the way to Houston and Water streets near the Batavia Depot Museum in the city's downtown.
