Batavia Police: Domestic Battery, Stray Dog, Stolen Rihanna CD

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents on Feb. 17. Here they are in chronological order:

8:51 a.m.—Traffic Arrest

A 27-year-old Batavia resident is headed to court after an incident on the city's east side.

Samary L. Lopez, of the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle, was cited for not using a child restraint and for no valid drivers license. Lopez was also issued a warning for no turn on red, according to a police report.

The incident occurred at Kirk Road and Wilson Street.

The child who was not restrained in this incident was five years old, according to police. Passengers under age 8 must be placed and secured in an appropriate child restraint system, as covered by the Child Passenger Protection Act.

Lopez posted $150 bond and was released with a court date of March 6.

9:23 a.m.—Burglary to Motor Vehicle

A female reported that a few items were taken from her locked car on the west side.

The victim said a Rihanna CD and copies of an Order of Protection paperwork were taken from her vehicle, according to a police report. The incident occurred in a parking lot at Lorlyn of Batavia Apartments, 1034 Lorlyn Circle.

The estimated loss is $20.

4:03 p.m.—Stray Dog

A stray pooch was located in downtown Batavia, and the owner got in trouble for it.

The dog was located at a business on the 0-99 block of North Batavia Avenue, according to a police report.

The owners from Batavia were located and they picked up the dog at the Batavia Police Department, 100 N. Island Ave.

The subjects were issued an Ordinance Violation for a dog at large.

7 p.m.—Domestic Battery

An incident of domestic battery occurred between a woman and her husband on Batavia's west side.

A verbal dispute turned physical when the woman was slapped by her husband, according to a police report.

No complaints were signed. The offender left the home for the evening.

9:05 p.m.—Criminal Damage to Property

A Montgomery woman reported damage to her car on the west side.

The woman said an unknown offender or offenders smashed the back window of her vehicle. The incident occurred on the 300 block of Main Street, according to a police report.

The damage is estimated at $300.

9:40 p.m.—Retail Theft

An incident of retail theft occurred at a business on the 200 block of North Randall Road. No additional information was available on this incident.
