Batavia Police: Domestic Battery, Missing Vehicle, Dumpster Diving

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents on Friday, April 27:

12:23 a.m.—Suspicious Incident

Two male subjects were questioned about their dumpster activities on Batavia's east side.

An officer noted the males going through a dumpster and removing various articles on the 700 block of Hunter Drive.

The subjects advised they had permission to go through the dumpster, but were unable to provide proof, according to a police report.

The items were returned to the dumpsters and the subjects left the area.

5:55 a.m.—Assist Other Agency

The Geneva Police Department responded to the scene of a car crash at Fabyan Parkway and Kirk Road. Batavia Police assisted with traffic control.

8:21 a.m.—Fraud (Desk Report)

A west-side man reported unauthorized charges on his bank debit card.

An unknown offender or offenders made three unauthorized charges to his debit card totaling $227.86.

9:42 a.m.—Domestic Battery

A 25-year-old Batavia man was taken to jail after a verbal dispute turned physical in the downtown area.

Robert J. Wood was processed and charged with domestic battery, according to a police report.

The incident allegedly involved Wood and his girlfriend. Wood reportedly pushed her into a wall and began hitting her on the thighs and back, the report said.

A complaint was signed. Wood was taken into custody and transported to the Kane County Jail for Bond Call.

10:56 a.m.—Domestic Dispute

Two people got into a dispute on Batavia's east side.

"The complainant reported that during the argument the offender threatened the victim with a rubber hammer," the report said. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of East Wilson Street.

Both parties were separated and no complaints were signed.

The hammer was never located.

11:11 a.m.—Retail Theft

Two out-of town male subjects were involved in an incident of retail theft on the west side.

The males were observed taking $89 worth of connectors and $18 worth of nail gun packs from a store on the 300 block of North Randall Road, according to a police report.

The subjects were stopped before leaving the area. No charges were filed.

1:50 p.m.—Criminal Damage to Property

Property damage was reported to an apartment complex on the 1300 block of East Wilson Street.

Further information was not available at the time of the report.

3:51 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A collision was reported in the parking lot of a business on the 800 block of North Randall Road.

4:03 p.m.—Vehicle Taken (Desk Report)

A car was taken without permission on Batavia's east side.

A woman reported that a male subject from Skokie took her rental car without her permission and that all attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. The incident occurred on the 1200 block of East Wilson Street.

The rental company and Skokie Police were contacted and the vehicle was entered into the LEADS system.

5:24 p.m.—Identity Theft (Desk Report)

A woman from downtown Batavia reported that someone opened a Sears credit card in her name.

An unknown offender or offenders used the woman's social security number and driver's license number to open a Sears account, according to the police report. The woman contacted Sears and canceled the card.

The woman was victimized previously when unknown subjects submitted a tax return using her name. Unknown subjects had also stolen her wallet and driver's license in Aurora in the past, the report said.

6:18 p.m.—Domestic Trouble

A verbal dispute was reported between a couple on the east side.

The boyfriend left the scene of the dispute on the 300 block of State Street, according to a police report.

No physical contact or threats were made.

6:47 p.m.—Harassment (Desk Report)

A female reported that her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend keeps leaving her harassing voicemails on her phone. The incident was reported on the 800 block of North Forest Avenue.

The offender was contacted by phone and directed to have no further contact with the victim, according to a police report.

9:01 p.m.—Disturbance

A disturbance occurred on the east side involving a 13-year-old girl and a 20-year-old.

The girl became upset when the 20-year-old accompanied the girl's father to Funway to pick her up. The incident occurred on the east side, according to a police report.

The parties were separated for the night.
