The city is expecting electric peak alerts all week, according to an online message from Robert Rogde, Batavia's Electric Superintendent.

Rogde said this week could turn out to be the days that are measured to set the electrical requirements for next year. The heat and electrical load are forecast to build all week.

Here's some things to keep in mind with the alert in place:

  • If you are out in the heat, please be careful and drink fluids.
  • Make sure your pets have plenty of water.
  • Please remember to check on your neighbors and relatives.
  • Raise your thermostat a couple of degrees so the air conditioning won't kick on all the time.
  • Cool your house down overnight and keep the shade closed during the day when possible.
