Batavia Blotter: Snow Plow Rams 'Merry Christmas' Sign and Other Miscellaneous Mayhem

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

This week's miscellaneous mayhem and other items of interest includes a keyed car, a damaged median, a man who can't find the mother of his children and a found mountain bike.

$1,000 Damage to Car

Police reported criminal damage to property at around 1:14 p.m. Dec. 14 in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 801 N. Randall Road. The victim from Geneva reported that the passenger side of his vehicle had been keyed. The estimated cost to repair the damage was $1,000.

Median Damaged

Someone damaged a traffic sign in the south end of the median strip for northbound traffic at South Kirk Road and Chillem Drive, according to a report at 11:56 p.m. Dec. 11.

Missing Mom Will Be Home Soon

According to a report filed at 8:51 a.m. Dec. 13, a complainant from Aurora told police he was not able to contact the mother of his children, who resides in the 700 block of Park Street in Batavia. Other family members told police the woman was out of state and is due to return home for Christmas.

 

Snow Plow Hits 'Merry Christmas' Sign

Batavia police reported at 11:35 a.m. Dec. 11 that a snow plow tore off the victim’s “Merry Christmas” sign at the Windmill City Center, 13 S. Batavia Ave., reports said. The cost of the damage was estimated at $150.

 

Found Bike

Batavia police found a Guy/Pur Roadmaster Mountain Sport bicycle in the 500 block of Houston Street, according to a report at 9:50 a.m. Dec. 10

 
Sex Offender Registration

Joshawa Vermaat, 24, of Batavia made his quarterly registration as a sex offender, at 7:26 p.m. Dec. 9 at the Batavia Police Department, 100 N. Island Center.

Warrant Arrest 

Batavia police arrested Kelly Mobley, 48, of Oswego on a Kane County Sheriff’s Department warrant around 9:35 a.m. at 100 N. Island Center, Batavia. Mobley posted $300 bond and has a court date of Jan. 8.
