Batavia Blotter: Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Justice, Fire Assists and More

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Here is a roundup of miscellaneous items from the Batavia Police Department blotter from June 19 to July 1. 

Warrant Services


  • Keenan Herlihy, 18, of Batavia was issued an arrest warrant on charges of failure to appear and obstructing justice around 9:24 p.m. June 25, reports said. He was transported to the Kane County Jail and was awaiting bond call at the time the report was filed.
  • Batavia police arrested Victor Parra, Jr., 19, of Hammond, IN, on a warrant out of McHenry County for failure to appear on a larceny charge. He was unable to post $500 bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail.
  • Police arrest Emmanuel Camacho, 26, of Batavia for an outstanding warrant of driving with an suspended license. He posted $350 bond and has a court date of July 16.

Assist to Fire Department


  • Batavia police  assisted with a call to a dumpster fire at Cartridge World, 821 Randall Road, according to a report filed at 2:36 a.m. July 1. There were paper and cardboard items in the dumpster. The Batavia Fire Department extinguished the blaze, but there was no structural damage noted, reports said. The source of the fire was unknown at the time of the report.
  • Police reported to a fire at Lorlyn Apartments, in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle around 4:12 p.m. June 22, reports said. Smoke was coming from under ground, possibly caused by the malfunction of an electrical line, reports said.


Stray Dog Found


  • A gray Scottie was found in the 500 block of Spring Street, accorind to a report filed around 3:33 p.m. June 29. The dog was chipped and turned over to the dogsitter.


Found Property


  • A purple, 15-speed bicycle was found at the corner of Randall Road and Fabyan Parkway. The bike was transported to the police department and entered into evidence.


Obstructing Justice, False Information


  • Batavia police arrested Serhonda Burnett, 35, of Downers Grove on charges of obstructing justice by providing false information, obstructing identification, speeding, unlawful use of a driver’s license, driving while license revoked, and driving under the influence around 11:34 p.m. June 25, reports said. She was transported to the Kane County Jail and was awaiting bond call at the time the report was filed.


DuPage County Assist


  • Batavia police assisted DuPage County sheriff’s deputies around 5:12 p.m. June 21 at Sam’s Club, 501 N. Randall Road. While assisting, it was determined that one of the subjects was wanted on a warrant out of Kendall County for failure to appear on a suspended driver’s license charge. Kyle Wall, 23, of Aurora was taken into custody, where he posted $300 bond and was released with a Kendall County court date of July 5.

Lost Property


  • A complainant reported the loss of her wallet at Kohls, 251 N. Randall Road, according to a report filed around 5:24 p.m. June 21. 


Resisting Arrest


  • Batavia police arrested Lisa Jones, 45, of Batavia on two counts of resisting or obstructing a police officer around 10:52 p.m. June 19 in the 900 block of Orchard Court, reports said. She has a court date of July 9.


Criminal Damage to Property 


  • Someone smashed the rear hatch window of a vehicle in the 2300 block of Hill Lane around 2:05 p.m.June 28. The damage was estimated at $700.
  • Someone damaged a subdivision sign with black spray paint according to a report filed around 8:20 a.m. June 26. The sign was in the 0-99 block of Woodland Hills Drive and the estimated cost of repair is $50.
