Batavia Blotter: Police Report Death From Natural Causes, Obstructing Justice, ID Theft

Death, Natural Causes

Batavia police found the victim, 72, in her bedroom, nonresponsive and not breathing, at a residence in the 900 block of Lorlyn Circle, according to a report filed at 11:12 a.m. Aug. 3. Paramedics were called to the scene, the subject was pronounced dead by a Delnor physician and the Kane County Coroner’s Office was contacted. No signs of foul play were noted, reports said.

Identity Theft—False Verizon Account Opened

A victim who lives in the 2700 block of Duncan Lane reported that unknown offenders opened a Verizon account under this name, and purchased a cell phone using his name and identification numbers, according to a report filed around 11:50 a.m. Aug. 3. The report was filed for documentation at the request of Verizon.

Wallet Found While Cutting the Grass

Someone found a wallet while cutting his grass in the 300 block of Douglas Road, according to a report filed at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 3. The wallet contained no cash, but did include an ID and assorted credit cards. The owner of the wallet, from St. Charles, was contacted and subsequently came to the police state and claimed his property.

 

Chicago Man Arrested on Charges of Obstructing Justice

Batavia police arrested Lawrence B. Williams, 38, of Chicago on charges of obstructing identification around 9:45 p.m. Aug. 3 in the 1100 block of East Wilson Street, reports said. According to reports, Williams tried to conceal his identity from the reporting officer. Once his identity was confirmed, Williams was served an Order of Protection Short Form Notification and a complaint was signed for obstructing identification. Williams has a court date of Sept. 10.
