Auroran Learns Real Name + Fake ID = Arrest

An Aurora man who reportedly used a fake Illinois driver’s license while trying to order beer left the business when an employee called police, but he later turned himself in after police called him at home and left a message — with his father.

Kevin M. Kuntz, 20, of the 3100 block of Wagner Court, Aurora, told police her ordered the fake Illinois driver’s license online and paid $100 for it.

But the driver’s license didn’t seem right to a server when Kuntz used it while trying to order beer on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at St. Charles Bowl, 2520 W. Main St. According to the report, the license Kuntz used did not have the holograph of the Illinois state seal, and the typography was not the same as that on other Illinois driver’s licenses.

The business called St. Charles police at 8:31 p.m., and according to the report, Kuntz left when he realized what was happening. But police tracked him down, the report states, because the false ID had Kuntz’s real name on it.

Police called him at home, leaving a message for him with his father. Kuntz later called back police and then returned to St. Charles, where he turned himself in to police.

Kuntz was charged with using a false identification and then was released on his own recognizance pending a Feb. 6, 2014 court appearance.
