Aurora Man Charged With Trying to Sell 2 Kilos of Cocaine

An Aurora man is being held in lieu of $2 million bail after being charged for his alleged attempt to sell more than two kilograms of cocaine.
Rigoberto Ayala-Villareal, 34, of the 900 block of Hankes Avenue, Aurora, has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony.
At about 7:20 p.m. Nov. 1, 2013, Aurora police officers stopped a car being driven by Villareal in the 700 block of North Lake Street for an alleged traffic violation. Inside the vehicle officers found two packages of cocaine with a combined weight of more than two kilograms. Officers estimated the street value of the cocaine at more than $200,000.

Villareal appeared Nov. 2, 2013, in Kane County court for a bond hearing. Bail was set at $2 million, and Villareal’s next court appearance was set for 9 a.m. Nov. 8, 2013, in Courtroom 319 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Villareal remains in custody at the Kane County jail.

If convicted of the most serious charge, Villareal faces a minimum sentence of
15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
