Area Police Request Residents’ Assistance to Stop Sewer Grate Thefts

Nearby West Chicago has experienced a rash of storm sewer grates being stolen.

The theft of sewer grates is happening all too frequently in West Chicago, so here's a heads up to anyone who might spot similar activity in Geneva.

The West Chicago Police Department is requesting the assistance of residents in reporting any suspicious activity in and around storm sewer grates.

Over the past few months, West Chicago has experienced a rash of storm sewer grates being stolen. A black, late '90s to early 2000s, Ford F150 Pick Up Truck with extended cab and a distinctive blue stripe along the lower trim has been seen in the vicinity during the time of the thefts.

Residents are being asked to call 911 if suspicious activity is witnessed around sewer grates or missing sewer grates are discovered.

Anyone having information regarding the sewer grate thefts is encouraged to contact the West Chicago Police Department at 630-293-2222 or DuPage Crime Stoppers.
