Another Residential Burglary Reported in Batavia

On the heels of four arrests and an ongoing investigation of previous burglaries, a home in the 300 block of Douglas Road is burglarized on Aug. 19.

After four were arrested Aug. 16 in connection with a series of residential burglaries on the southeast side of Batavia, police warned that the case remains open as an "active investigation" and residents should continue to keep up their guard.

On Aug. 19, another residential burglary was reported, this time at a home in the 300 block of Douglas Road, according to a report filed at 9:55 a.m. Aug. 19.

The burglary was different than the three previously reported home invasions in the 900 to 1200 blocks of Woodland Hills Drive and the 1600 block of Wagner Road between Aug. 5 and Aug. 14, 2013, in that the stolen items did not involve electronics.

A necklace and two rings were taken in the Aug. 19 incident. The report did not say the range of hours during which the burglary took place. There was no sign of entry. The jewelry was valued at $500.

The report does not say whether the residents were home at the time of the burglary, as was the case with three home burglaries between Aug. 5 and Aug. 14.

According to Batavia blotter items available to the press and public, a residential burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Woodland Hills Road at 7:03 a.m. Aug. 14 and a residential burglary was reported in the 1200 block of Thrun Drive at 2:08 p.m. Aug. 14.

The Thrun Drive address in the blotter does not match up with the addresses reported via the Batavia Police Department press release.
