Accident Reports: No One Hurt When Buses Collide at Hoover Wood School

Students ages 6 through 9 are on the buses, but less than $500 damage is done to any one vehicle and no one is hurt in the Oct. 4 collision.

No one was injured when two school buses collided around 8:43 a.m. Oct. 4 in the Hoover Wood Elementary School parking lot at 1640 Wagner Road, according to Batavia police reports.

The front of a 2007 Chevrolet us owned by Illinois Central Truck Leasing and driven by Latesha Young, 32, of Elgin collided with the rear of a 2011 Chevrolet bus owned by the same company and driven by Lourdes Blanco, 25, of Elgin, reports said.

Four students in the 2007 bus were ages 6, 7, 8, 9, all from Batavia. Three students in the 2011 bus were 6, 8 and 9 years old.

Less than $500 damage was done to any one vehicle.

According to the report, Young parked her bus about 1 foot behind the other bus and thought she had put the bus in park. She turned back to looked at the children and her bus lunged forward, striking the 2011 bus.
