POLICE: Armed Robbery Reported At North Aurora 7-Eleven

The robbery occurred late this morning. Here's a suspect description.

A 7-Eleven store in North Aurora was robbed Monday morning, according to police.

The robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven on 2 S. Lincolnway, located at the southwest corner of Lincolnway (Route 31) and State Street (Route 56). North Aurora patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at 9:57 a.m., according to a police statement released this afternoon.

"Upon arrival, officers learned that at approximately 9:40 a.m. a female store employee was robbed outside of the store as she was transporting store money to the bank," the statement said.

The suspect was waiting out of sight on the south side of the building. He knocked her to the ground, displayed the barrel of a gun and demanded money, according to police. The female complied with the suspect’s demand and the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of money.

The suspect was last seen heading southbound through the alley between Route 31 and Adams Street, located one block west of 31. Officers completed a search of the area but could not find him.

The suspect was described as:

  • A light-skinned male, appearing to be Hispanic
  • Between 5’8” and 6’2” tall
  • Heavy set
  • Wore a black quilted puffy coat, black pants, black work boots and a black knit beanie hat.

The man was armed with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun. The barrel of his gun was described as black and square, as semi-automatics generally are, police said.

North Aurora police would like to stress that the offender targeted 7-Eleven, not a random customer. Police do not think that customers are at risk of a random attack.

Investigators want to speak with anyone who might have seen the suspect prior to the robbery, or who might have seen the suspect fleeing the scene.

"No piece of information is too small," the statement said.

North Aurora police continue to investigate this robbery. Anyone with information should call the department's Investigations Division at 630-897-8705, ext 610.
