UPDATE: Second Lake Street Fire Was Inside Same Home As Saturday Blaze, Firefighter Injured

The Batavia Fire Department on Sunday did not conclude if Sunday's fire was related to Saturday's attic fire. Read below for more information.

A firefighter was injured during Sunday morning's Lake Street fire, the second such blaze to break out at the same home in Batavia in less than 24 hours.

The firefighter was treated and released at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, according to a press release. No one else was injured in the second fire.

As of Sunday evening, the Batavia Fire Department did not conclude if today's fire was related to Saturday's attic fire at the same location. For more on the first fire, including photos from inside the home before the second fire, click .

The cause and origin of the second fire remains under investigation. The cause of the first fire was an electrical malfunction—an electric pipe in the attic caught on fire.

Sunday's fire, the second fire, ended in an estimated $150,000 in structural damages and $20,000 in content damages.

Firefighters were dispatched to the second fire at about 6:19 a.m. Sunday. Fire crews found flames showing from a second-floor front window.

The fire was extinguished but crews then found the fire had extended into the attic during further investigation.

The entire second-floor ceiling and insulation had to be removed to extinguish the attic fire. Several windows were removed to help release heat and smoke during the fire attack.

A operator confirmed the fire for Batavia Patch Sunday morning and said Batavia fire personnel were at the fire scene. Due to the fire, the staff at  were unable to immediately provide details of the second fire.

A total of 33 fire personnel were at the scene of this fire. The , Geneva and North Aurora fire departments provided mutual aid to the Batavia Fire Department.
