10 More Vehicle Break-Ins Last Week in Batavia

Ten vehicle burglaries or break-ins were reported the week prior to Nov. 25 in Batavia. The car-burglary spree follows the Nov. 12 series, when four vehicles were broken into during an eight-hour period. Here are the reports from this past week:

 

3 Burglaries Near Lorlyn Nov. 18

Three burglary-to-motor-vehicle reports were filed on Nov. 18 in the area of the Lorlyn Apartments.

  • A wallet and credit cards were taken from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of South Batavia Avenue, according to a report at 6:21 a.m.
  • A bus ticket valued at $34 was taken from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle, according to a report filed at 8:51 a.m.
  • Unknown offenders went through the glove box and center console of a vehicle in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle, according to a report at 9:19 a.m. Nothing appeared to be taken from the third vehicle.

6 More Cars Entered Nov. 20

Batavia police reported that someone entered a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle. The vehicle door was open, the glove box was open and papers were thrown on the passenger seat, but nothing was taken. Two other vehicles in the 1000 block of Lorlyn Circle were found with doors slightly ajar, glove boxes open and papers thrown on the passenger seats. Police were unable to locate the owners of those vehicle to determine if anything had been taken. All three reports were filed between 2:38 a.m. and 3:09 a.m. Nov. 20.

A fourth vehicle entry was an incomplete report filed at 2:03 p.m. and a fifth burglary was reported at 3:24 p.m. Nov. 20, this time in the 900 block of Lorlyn Circle.

In the fifth incident, offenders entered the vehicle and took a wallet. The victim was informed that the wallet was found nearby and was temporarily held in evidence at the Police Department.

A sixth burglary to motor vehicle report on Nov. 20 was in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street. The report, filed at 6:55 p.m., said an unknown offender broke the passenger-side window to gain entry.

Burglary on Newberry Drive

Batavia police reported that a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Newberry Drive was entered through an unlocked door. The door was open, the glove box was open and papers were strewn on the seat when police found the vehicle. Nothing was taken, however, according to the report filed at 8:42 a.m. Nov. 21.
