Predict the Score: Chicago vs. Minnesota

The Bears travel to Minnesota this weekend. Can you guess the score? Closest prediction to the outcome wins a Patch T-shirt!

The Bears and Vikings met just two weeks ago, and it wasn't a contest. Chicago won 28-10 at home, but can they duplicate that effort in Minnesota?

Predict the score prior to Sunday's Bears game. The reader who correctly guesses the score, or comes closest to guessing the score, will get a Patch T-shirt. At the end of the season, we'll have a random drawing among the weekly winners for a larger prize.

Congratulations to Mitotero, who predicted the Seahawks would beat the Bears 21-10 last week (the actual score was 23-17).

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

• If you’re a Patch reader, simply comment on the bottom of this article with your name and what you think the final score of the next Bears game will be. (Example: Benny Bears Fan, Bears 102, Vikings 0.)

• All entries need to be received by the start of the game. Because the Bears' game is at noon Sunday (CST), we'll need all entries by then.

• To determine the winner, we will take the difference between actual points scored and predicted score for each team, and add them up for everyone who posted in the comments section. The person whose combined total is closest to zero wins. And it doesn't matter if the points you give are higher or lower than actual points scored, we're just looking for the person who has the lowest differential.

• If two or more people tie for being the closest to the actual total of points scored, a random drawing will be held to determine the winner.

• Only one entry allowed per person. All participants must be 18 years or older. You can read our official giveaway guidelines here.

So, please, comment away. And tell your friends!

ED ENTERLIN December 7, 2012 at 01:53 pm
The 2nd half of the schedule was going to be tough for the bears....WITHOUT INJURIES!
Now with the injuries they have, and, they are such an up & down team, ya just don't know which team will show up, and I love the Bears........BUT......I have to say...... Vikings 23 - Bears 20..... (that includes 1 touchdown by the defense, of course).
Rod Alequin December 7, 2012 at 02:04 pm
I'm thinking the Bears will do somewhat better this week than last. Therefore I believe the Bears will win at a toon of 31 - 20
Jeff Bowe December 7, 2012 at 03:26 pm
Vikings are 5-1 at home....AP will have another great game, rushing for 156 yards with 2 TD'S.....Final Score will be Vikings 24 Bears 20
Mitotero December 7, 2012 at 03:55 pm

I am glad to see Mr. Brinkmeirer commenting. As a follower of the Patch writings I am often amazed by the lack of interest in significant stories that impact us as a society but any mention of sports, recipes, and trivia gets a huge response.
Jim Court December 8, 2012 at 03:34 pm
This was no shot at Mr. Brinkmeier. Although I am athletic, I often think that things that ultimately do not matter in the larger scheme of things take priority over things that really do. Since I have huge respect for Mr. Brinkmeier it was simply a confirmation that good and engaged citizens can embrace sports as simply a diversion and fun. Are you the Tommy O that I know?
Anthony December 9, 2012 at 03:10 pm
Vikings 21, Bears 17 Bears will squeak into the playoffs, but don't expect more than one game.
Johner December 9, 2012 at 04:55 pm
Bears 30 Vikings 28

This is Chicago/Illinois. We accept mediocrity. Politicians, bad Judges, non-existent leadership, violent crime, high taxes, losing teams. Everything stays the same.
Our extreme conservatism accepts the status-quo and opposes change, no matter how beneficial it may be.. No wonder this state is broke. Throw in a little bread & circuses and everyone is content. Enough booze and drugs and we tranquilize ourselves into indifference. Maybe it is the bleak weather, but I worry about the future of our country. We buy votes with entitlements, the most educated persons vote is equal to the drunk who is dragged into the Polls.

How did my picture get superimposed with your name?
Anthony December 9, 2012 at 09:52 pm
Hitting the bottle early and often today Jim? It's a simple football poll question.
Jim Court December 9, 2012 at 10:20 pm
Antony,
Your response gave me a good laugh. I have renters who do this so much that I hope I never drink. As you can see, I am more into politics than sports. Maybe I have it backwards. Maybe I should stay drunk, scream for a team and just kick back.
Jim Court December 10, 2012 at 03:25 am
Antony,
I actually make a very valid point even if it is not shared by all. Different priorities perhaps. Can we drink to that?
Johner December 10, 2012 at 10:28 pm
Go find a different venue for your comments, Jim.
Johner December 10, 2012 at 10:35 pm
Me thinks you won, Anthony. Good job!
Cari Barcas (Editor) December 10, 2012 at 10:39 pm
This was a close one between Anthony and Annette, but Anthony emerged victorious with three-point difference to the Vikings winning score of 21-14. Anthony, I'll email you shortly to coordinate delivery of your prize. Thanks everyone for participating!

Johner
Probably should not get so introspective in a column devoted to sports.

I went to the Farmers' Market on River St. this Saturday and was very impressed. It looks so nice onRead More the newly refurbished River St. Had some gelato at the new restaurant O' Sole Mio and it was very good. Love the new location for the Farmers' Market! Downtown Batavia is Rockin!

My schildren were asked to take this survey and both did. If the school board wanted an accurate andRead More fair assesment on what is going on at the school the would have eliminated the students name at the top. How many highschoolers do they really think were going to admit to using alcohol of drugs with their name embossed right on top?
Jeff Johns June 7, 2013 at 08:47 pm
A survey.....A survey with the student's name in on it asking them to admit to illegal activity?????Read More How can school administrators approve this before it was implemented. The trust that students have with their teachers and counselors has been breached and this has turned into a farce. (This reminds me of my fifth grade PE teacher who had me and over 60 of my classmates right certain letters on paper taped on the bathroom wall when someone wrote 4 LETTER WORDS above the urinals. No ones writing matched. Don't figure) Although there are many students that could benefit from counseling or intervention thinking that they would come forward through a piece of paper is....well, not smart. I attended public schools my whole life and never heard of anything like this. I compliment the teachers and counselors at BHS for the outstanding education my child has received. Constitutional rights or not this was just wrong. I support and thank the teacher for conveying this to the students. How many other teachers were put in an ackward position instructing there students to take the survey? How many reviewed this with there department heads and principals? This is being hushed by 101. Administrators and School Board, you need more communication with your teachers and potential implications to students. Very Embarassing....

This entire ordeal has made national news and consequently, the Batavia USD 101 looks ridiculous -Read More at best - downright evil at worst. It was on the Drudge Report and went viral on-line: http://chicagolampoon.blogspot.com/2013/06/batavia-usd-101-educrats-piss-on-us.html Thanks for the info as to the 1 intellectually honest board member, Jon Gaspar - the rest can't really be considered real Americans.
