Send a Postcard in Remembrance of Laura Crawford

Since many of her books were written in postcard format, the library is encouraging the community to write a postcard about Laura.

She was not a resident of or teacher in Batavia, but Laura Crawford's books were, and if you met her or were touched by her story or her books, here's a way you can provide some comfort for her family.

The Geneva Public Library is helping to spread the word about collecting notes for the famiy of Crawford, a Geneva resident, beloved Sleepy Hollow educator and children's book author, who died last week at the age of 46.

Crawford's family is compiling notes about her for her nieces and nephews. Notes can be sent to linda.crawford@comcast.net. In addition, Laura's books will be out at the Geneva Library's Youth Services Answers Desk.

Since many of her books were written in postcard format, the library is encouraging the community to stop by and write a postcard (the library has a template out) about what you like about Laura’s books, or a memory you have about Laura. The postcards will be sent to her family.

The template will be out through Oct. 18
