Sadly, David Dewald Loses Battle With Pancreatic Cancer

Visitation is Sunday, Nov. 10, and funeral Mass is Monday, Nov. 11.

Family members, friends and the Mill Creek community are mourning the loss of David Dewald, 49, of Yorkville who lost a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer on Nov. 7.

Friends had recently held a fundraiser for the Dewald family on behalf of his wife, Michelle, a long time fourth-grade teacher at Mill Creek School in Geneva, who has struggled with with financial burdens and healthcare issues.

Friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov.10, 2013, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut St., Yorkville, with Father Matthew Lamoureux M.I.C. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL.

Dewald was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville. He was employed for 20 years by Jet Letho Color in Bolingbrook, IL. He enjoyed being outdoors especially muskie fishing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Aubry and Evan Dewald of Yorkville, IL; his mother, Linda Dewald of Booneville, MS; his sister, Penny (Fred) O'Connor of Booneville, MS; as well as his nieces and nephews, Hannah, Logan, Peyton O'Connor and Brooke and Paige Streveler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Dewald.

In lieu of flowers, the David Dewald Memorial Fund has been established for his children at the Old Second National Bank, 1991 W. Wilson St., Batavia, IL 60510-1680.
