Weekend Planner: International Tenors, Football Rivalry, High Fashion

Here's a look at some big events going on in Batavia Sept. 7, 8 and 9.

Ready for a full weekend of entertainment in B-town? I know we are.

From Friday night lights to Italian singers to the runway, Batavia has it all this weekend. Here's what you need to know about each event.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 7

When/Where: 7:30 p.m., 's Bulldog Stadium, Wilson Street and Western Avenue, Batavia (NOTE: The game WILL start as scheduled. No weather delays as of 6:30 p.m. Friday, according to the BHS Athletic Department.)

Why Go?: Three words: Batavia vs. Geneva. C'mon, this is the biggest rivalry in the state of Illinois!

SATURDAY, SEPT. 8

When/Where: Doors 7 p.m., show starts at 7:30 p.m., , 1400 W. Wilson St. (Wilson side of Batavia High School), Batavia 

Why Go?: The group's set will include favorites like “O Sole Mio,” “La Donna Mobile,” “Libiamo” and songs from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “West Side Story,” and “Les Miserables.” Contemporary selections round out the show as the Tenors perform some of the world’s greatest pop/opera hits from artists like Josh Groban and Andrea Boccelli.

How Much?: $19-$25. Seats are cheaper if you purchase them online. See below:

When/Where: Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 7 p.m., fashion show at 9 p.m., , 160 S. Water St., Batavia

Why Go?: Everything presented in the fashion and gallery shows will be for sale, with a substantial portion of the proceeds benefiting Water Street Studios.

How Much?: Tickets sales ended Thursday, Sept. 6. Prices were $35, $85, or more with VIP upgrades.

Elements of the event will be available for viewing later at BATV.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 9

When/Where: 3 p.m., , 8 S. Lincoln St., Batavia

Why Go?: Mezzo-soprano Victoria L. Linich sings music by Schubert, Sibelius, Debussy, Barber and Gershwin. The program will also include pianist Robert Hoist and visual artist Kris Luedtke as part of the multi-media performance. The show will benefit the Batavia Arts Council.

How Much?: FREE (donations will be accepted at the event)
