Update: Mooseheart Eaglets Headed To Starved Rock Downstate

The baby eagles that were orphaned earlier this year are reportedly going to make their home in Utica, IL, according to the wildlife rehab center that's caring for them.

The Mooseheart eaglets may have been down earlier this year, but they are definitely not out.

The young birds are reportedly going to be released at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL, according to the Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. The park is about 60 miles from Batavia.

The Mooseheart eaglets are scheduled to go into the wild on Saturday, Nov. 12, according to Flint Creek Wildlife's Facebook page.

Starved Rock was selected for its eagle population in the winter and relatively close distance to Chicago. Adult eagles begin to arrive in mid-November, with more expected in December and January, according to the rehab center.

The young eagles recovered from their fall and were placed back up in the trees in a manmade nest. The parent eagles and refused to feed their children.

The eaglets were taken back out of the trees and were brought to the Flint Creek facility in Barrington.
