Fox Valley Notes: Arcada to welcome Creed Bratton

The Arcada Theatre in downtown St. Charles will welcome Creed Bratton, a founding member of the The Grassroots and a cast member of TV’s “The Office,” for a performance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18. Peaceful Parlour to host Patchouli performance

Peaceful Parlour, 212 S. Third St. in downtown Geneva, will host the band Patchouli at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Patchouli blends folk, pop, jazz and other musical styles. Admission is free and attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. For more information, call 630-232-6300.

Garden club plans plant sale

The Pottawatomie Garden Club in St. Charles will host a plant sale and garden boutique from 9 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The sale will feature a variety of plants, including mums and perennials.

Annual Bruce Conley Memorial Walk set for Sept. 14

Our friends at Conley Outreach Community Services will conduct the third annual Bruce Conley Memorial Walk at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Conley Farm, 47W085 Main Street Road, Elburn. The walk will begin and end at the farm. The registration fee is $15 for an individual, or $30 for a family. Proceeds from the event will benefit Conley’s grief programs.  For more information about the walk, call 630-365-2880.

St. Peter Catholic church to host Barn Sale

St. Peter Catholic Church in Geneva will conducts its Barn Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at the Kane County Fairgrounds, Route 38 and Randall Road in St. Charles. The sale will feature a  variety of merchandise, including antiques, toys, seasonal items, and electronics. 

Cantigny Park to host car show Sept. 15

Fans of vintage cars will want to visit Cantigny Park’s annual car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15. In addition to a variety of vehicles, the show will offer entertainment, food, and awards in more than 90 categories. Admission is free, but there is a $5 per vehicle parking fee. The park is located at 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton. For more information about the show, call 630-668-5161.

Books Between Bites to discuss Cubs' World Series drought

The Batavia Public Library’s Books Between Bites program will start its 27th season at noon Thursday, Sept. 19 with a program featuring author Chris Neitzel and his book “Beyond Bartman, Curses & Goats: 104 Reasons Why It’s Been 104 Years.” The Books Between Bites program meets at noon the third Thursday of each month from September through May. Admission is free and attendees may bring lunch to the program. For more information about the program, call 630-879-4426. The library is located at 10 S.  Where's all the rain?

Gilbert Sebenste, staff meteorologist at Northern Illinois Univesity, reports that as of Sept. 10 our area has recorded .42 “ of rainfall equivalent in September. On average, the area sees 3.16” of rainfall by Sept. 10.
