Gravestone of Bullied Batavia Teen Now in Ruins

Friend seeks funds to rebuild the gravestone damaged three years after the anniversary of Quincee's death.

The gravestone of Quincee Barnes-Miller has been badly damaged, and a friend is now trying to raise funds again to have it repaired or replaced.

Quincee committed suicide on Oct. 20, 2010, according to an article in the Kane County Chronicle. Relatives discovered the the damage while visiting the gravestone in early October at Garfield Cemetery in Campton Hills.

A bowling fundraiser three years ago contributed to the purchase of the stone, which spelled, "LOVE." Now, a fundraising effort has been started on GoFundMe.com by Quincee's friend, Haleigh Rhaea Nesbitt.

The fundraising effort is at $3,232 as of Oct. 30. The goal is $5,000.

Campton Hills police believe that someone backed over the headstone with an automobile. The top of the headstone was found lying near a fence, and a photo is posted on the GoFundMe page.

Quincee's relatives have become strong anti-bullying advocates.
