Garden Walk - "...and in between we garden."

It is with much pride that the Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners present their 2011 garden walk, “…and in between we garden.” The Walk showcases eight beautifully varied gardens. These include a cozy lot wrapped around an 80 year old Bavarian Tudor home, a “prairie zen” themed yard, a property designated as a “Wildlife Sanctuary” and an acre of wildly abundant perennials flowing around a koi-filled swimming pond. Also, not to be missed is the Wildflower Sanctuary on the Batavia Riverwalk. Advance tickets will be available at the Batavia Park District, 327 W. Wilson, beginning May 23rd. The day of the Walk, tickets may be purchased at each of the gardens and at The Holmstad - A Covenant Retirement Community, 700 West Fabyan Parkway, in Batavia. Follow the on-site signs to reach the Ahlstrand Cultural Center where a complimentary tea, offering finger sandwiches and desserts, will be presented by The Holmstad staff. While there, enjoy the elegant setting featuring piano music, watercolor paintings and amazing floral arrangements, then stroll over to visit the gardens lovingly tended by The Holmstad residents. This is the ninth bi-annual garden walk for the Plain Dirt Gardeners. This event and the annual plant sale provide funds towards the club’s commitment to maintain the Wildflower Sanctuary and other projects, including local college scholarships. The club members have earned much respect for their dedication to the community and also enjoyed receiving top honors during four appearances at the Chicago Flower and Garden Show. Visit the Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners on Facebook.

We come from the earth, we return to the earth, and in between we garden."
