Literacy Volunteers Needed

Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley will host a free tutor training workshop for residents who want to help Tri-City adults read, write, speak and understand English. About 25 adults are waiting to learn.

The four-session tutor training workshop will be held at the St. Charles Public Library on Mondays and Wednesdays May 5, 7, 12 and 14 from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Volunteers do not need a background in education or a second language to be effective. Learners say that the best literacy volunteers are patient, listen and give practical information.

Each volunteer who completes the workshop will be matched with one adult learner. Literacy volunteers teach for one hour each week at a time and public location that is convenient.

To register for the May workshop or for a future workshop, visit www.lvfv.org or call Peg Coker at 630-584-4428.
