THERE MAY BE A FEW NUTS HERE AND THERE
The Albright Theatre Company is pleased to present “The Family Fruitcake” as the holiday show this season. Not only is this the world premiere production of this fun, family-friendly show, but it was written by one of the Albright Theatre’s own members, Rebecca Frohling! As a family gathers for the holidays, Mom wants to have a normal dinner, “just this once”. But with a teen-age daughter being very “teenage-y”, a younger daughter prepared (literally) for combat, a newly married-into-the family man getting lost in the backyard, and a great aunt whose wild stories get wilder by the minute, a “normal dinner” just isn’t in the cards.
"I am super excited to be directing my very first show.” says co-director Tricia Hewson, “To be involved with such an amazing cast and to be sharing this experience with my co-director, Veronica Krystal, has been such a great learning experience. The story is very universal. Everyone can understand zany family gatherings and the characters that can be found there."
Actors of all ages have come together to create this “nutty” ensemble (in alphabetical order): Erica Anderson (West Chicago) is Karinn Dodson; Benny Avila (Batavia) is Michael McKinnon; Tony Avila (Batavia) is Matthew McKinnon; Mark Conway (Algonquin) is David Dodson; Kim Green (South Elgin) is Christine Carter; Allison Griffiths (St. Charles) is Kelsey McKinnon; Sydney Grom (Geneva) is Francie Carter; Ron Gustin (Batavia) is Patrick McKinnon; Tim Gustin (Batavia) is Luke McKinnon; Annie Hanlin (Batavia) is Olive Carter; Lauren Isenhart (Geneva) is Charity McKinnon; Hannah Klose (Naperville) is Emma McKinnon; Lori Klose (Naperville) is Edie McKinnon; Kathy Lillig (North Aurora) is Laurie McKinnon; Kent Lillig (North Aurora) is Jim McKinnon; Mark Lillig (North Aurora) is Mark McKinnon; Scott Lillig (North Aurora) is Patrick McKinnon; Alexander Peery (North Aurora) is Ripley Carter; Aaron Stevens (St. Charles) is Scott McKinnon and Vicki White (Batavia) is Bev Swenson. The cast is supported by co-directors: Tricia Hewson (West Dundee) and Veronica Krystal (Bloomingdale).
"I've had so much fun working on this show and working with co-director, Tricia Hewson!”, remarks Veronica Krystal (co-director), “This show presented a slight challenge in that it has never been done before, but it also gave everyone involved a chance to be creative. It's a story to which many people can relate; those crazy family get-togethers that always stick in your memory."
