AURORA, IL (NOVEMBER 2012) – In the first of its kind partnership, Illinois Orthopedic Network (ION), in conjunction with the Chicago and Midwest Regional Joint Board of Workers United (CMRJB) have teamed up to provide cutting edge benefits for all Chicagoland area Union Members. November 9th unveiled the first of a series of free health and wellness fairs. Union Workers and their families will be treated to a variety of free medical screenings and educational initiatives from this new organized team of medical professionals.
The second of five scheduled Health and Wellness Fairs will take place on November 27th from 12pm-5pm in the Aurora Fox Valley Inn, 2450 N. Farnsworth Avenue, Aurora, IL. Attendees will be offered such free services as on site flu vaccines (for sponsoring Unions), diabetes screenings, wellness massages, blood pressure checks, body fat analysis, bone densiometry, injury screenings, ergonomic assessments, worker rights seminars, injury case management roundtables, orthopedic evaluations, and lifting mechanic education.
“The CMRJB is strengthening the Union through promoting the health of our members,” says Richard Monje, International Vice President of Workers United.
“We are honored to be partnering with ION on such a cutting edge program to offer top notch doctors and medical services to all Union Members in the greater Chicagoland area.”
A total of four remaining health and wellness fairs will take place from November 27th through December 16th to treat, educate, and engage Union workers on medical awareness and their rights under the Illinois Worker’s Compensation system. These events will occur at different local Union establishments, banquet halls, and even on site at some of the larger facilities. Members of all Chicagoland area Unions are welcome and encouraged to attend.
“I can tell you that I have done dozens of wellness events in the past 15 years, and without a question, the first CMRJB Workers United event, on November 9th, was the most successful I’ve ever been part of. Success of a wellness event is based on member participation, understanding, and of course, attendance…we got all three! I look forward to the next events,” says Richard Korner, President of Korner and De Graff Benefits and Consulting.
The remaining dates for these events are as follows: November 27 and 30, December 7 and 12. Special hours for these events will be provided to accommodate all shifts throughout the day.
