BatFest 2012 This Saturday in Downtown Batavia

On Saturday, October 20th from 10:00am-2:00pm, Batavia MainStreet presents an event fun for the whole family.

Batavia Park District, BATV, Batavia Chamber of Commerce, Batavia Academy of Dance, Batavia Mother’s Club, Troop 6, and the Batavia Public Library are in partnership with Batavia MainStreet to host this year’s BatFest!

Daytime fun for the kids begins at 10:00am with Downtown Trick-or-Treating. Parents can get their treats by stopping by the mini Farmer’s Market from 10:00am-12:00pm to purchase fall goodies from local vendors in the lot by the kid’s art tent.

The Batavia Public Library will even be hosting “Stories and Songs” at 11:15am in the Reading Garden or Meeting Room. After the stories, stick around to be a part of the Batavia Mothers’ Club Halloween Parade at 11:45am with a police escort from Library to the Riverwalk and Peg Bond Center for BatArt, Games, and River City Church’s Photo Booth!

The Main Stage will feature DJ and dancing, performances by the Spirit Cheerleading Team, Monster Mash taught by the Batavia Academy of Dance and the costume contest hosted by BATV.

“We are so fortunate to work with so many community groups who volunteer to bring this free family event to the community,” said Joi Cuartero, executive director for Batavia MainStreet, “The kids really enjoy all the activities and it’s great to see all the different costumes!”

All ages can take a hayride with the Batavia Park District in front of City Hall. All those who bring a can food or donation for Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry will receive a free hayride! Then check out the rides for the “Trunk or Treat” contest.

This event is made possible by partners and the generous sponsorship of Montessori Academy, BMO Harris Bank and River City Church. For a full schedule of events, please visit www.DowntownBatavia.com/BatFest or call the MainStreet office at 630-761-3528.
