Oktoberfest In Batavia All This Weekend

Get ready for a carnival, food, drink and more as the 2011 Fox Valley Oktoberfest takes over the Riverwalk Sept. 16-18.

The 9th Annual Fox Valley Oktoberfest will be held this weekend on the . Admission is free.

The event, hosted by the Fox Valley chapter of DANK, will take place under the Big Top Tent on Friday, Sept. 16 through Sunday, Sept. 18.

Hours

  • Friday, Sept. 16: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. (Food until 10 p.m., beer until 10:30 p.m.)
  • Saturday, Sept. 17: Noon to 11 p.m. 
  • Sunday, Sept. 18: Noon to 8 p.m.

Kiddie Carnival Hours

  • Saturday, Sept. 17: Noon to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 18: Noon to 6 p.m.

Event Features

Attendees can enjoy authentic German food, including two types of bratwurst, fresh schnitzel (breaded pork tenderloin) and Bavarian pretzels made on-site by the group's professional German chef.

This year the group will have a Konditorei, a European Style Cafe located along the Fox River, that will boast cherry and apple strudels, plum cake, hazelnut torte and sacher torte made daily. The bar offers not only three types of Hacker-Pschorr German Bier, but also a light domestic bier and German wine.

A Kiddie Carnival will be filling the midway with a fantastic selection of rides.

There will be also non-stop musical entertainment with live German-American bands and DJs as well.

Special Events

Saturday’s special events include the “Official Opening” at 2 p.m. with a Keg tapping and at 4 p.m. the Egerlaender Dancers performing on the dance floor.

On Sunday, an Oktoberfest church service will be held at 11 a.m. The service will feature the Elmhurst Damenchor and Elmhurst Maennerchor. At 2 p.m. on Sunday, learn to polka on the dance floor from an instructor with State Street Dance.
