Last year, the parents of more than 600 children were invited to select age appropriate gift items for their children, including a large toy, small toy, book, puzzle, game, stocking stuffer and hats and gloves. Even greater numbers are expected to be served this year.

The giveaway is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9 and is by invitation only. Additional distributions will occur through December 22 on an as-needed basis.

Employees of the City of Batavia, children in most of the elementary buildings in Batavia Public Schools and the Rotolo Middle School Student Council are participating in the effort by making donations.

Batavia Bulldog football team members have assisted in the set up of toys, games, books and stuffed animals. The Batavia Mothers Club Foundation will help parents select age appropriate gifts for their eligible family members.

This effort to provide a brighter holiday season for Batavia children in need began nearly 30 years ago when six children came to share in the collected gifts.

The Batavia community has always been generous about helping those in need. This year should be no exception.  Additional information about the Toy Drive and distribution is available by email at bataviaccesstoys@gmail.com.
