Info on Sunday, Sept. 18 Tri Cities Events

Enjoy Oktoberfest one last time, go roam the Mooseheart campus during today's open house, see the Fox Valley Marathon and more. We've got times, addresses and prices.

Don't give me any of this "I'm bored" business.

Obviously there's plenty of housework to do. But if you actually want something fun today, check out this list:

Today (Sunday, Sept. 18)

1. Fox Valley Marathon (as a spectator)

When/Where: Race begins at 7 a.m., Starting line is at Indiana Street and Route 31, St. Charles, and the finish line is at Illinois Street and Route 31, St. Charles. Course runs through Geneva, Batavia, North Aurora, Aurora, and then back up again through the same towns to St. Charles.

Why Go?: Cheer on the runners, many of whom are running this race to qualify for the Boston Marathon. You never know, they also might run past your front door. The course map is here

How Much?: FREE

2. (Day 3—Sunday)

When/Where: Noon to 8 p.m., Kiddie carnival will be open from noon to 6 p.m., , Houston Street and Island Avenue, Batavia.

Why Go?: Get an authentic taste of Germany right here in the Tri Cities. The event features a European-style sidewalk cafe, polka, beer and more.

How Much?: Admission to the event tent is free, food and drink sold separately.

3. Mooseheart Open House

When/Where: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Mooseheart Child City and School. Do NOT use the main entrance—turn onto Mooseheart Road a little west of Route 31 (look for the open gate) and park near the Fieldhouse.

Why Go?: Mooseheart opens its doors for an extensive look at its campus. There hasn't been an open house like this since the 1990s. There will also be a ribbon cutting for the Maternity Homes of Fox Valley at 4 p.m., located on the Mooseheart campus.

How Much?: FREE

4. Mary Lincoln Strawberry Tea

When/Where: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., , 14 N. Van Buren St., Batavia

Why Go?: Spend time sipping tea while you hear Valerie Gugala as Mary Todd Lincoln and Kari Jones as Emilie Todd Helm perform a segment of their award winning program "Divided." They will talk about the issues that faced the two sisters finding themselves and their families on the opposite sides of the Civil War. Tea, coffee and a variety of treats will be served.

How Much?: $15
