City to Start Picking Up Brush in May

The schedule is starting one month later so that work can continue longer into the autumn.

Curbside residential brush pickup will begin this year in May rather than in April, the usual starting time.

Village officials wanted to extend the program though the end of November, and decided the way to do that and not increase the budget is to start later in the spring.

Residents are asked to put brush out no sooner than the weekend before the scheduled pickup day to avoid any code violation. Brush cannot be left out on the parkway between collection dates. The amount of brush that has been placed out citywide dictates how quickly each area will be reached, but each side of town is typically completed by Friday of the scheduled week, according to a press release issued by the city. Major storms may affect the pickup schedule.

  • Maximum length of limbs is 12 feet and maximum diameter is 10 inches (logs cannot be split);
  • Stack brush in large piles with the cut ends facing the curb away from mailboxes, utility poles/boxes, hydrants and parked vehicles;

For materials that do not meet the above specifications:
