Who Should Move to the Avenue Chevy Site?

A prime piece of Randall Road real estate remains unsold after a longtime local business shut down this past winter.

One of the largest parcels of land currently for sale in Batavia has sat vacant all year.

The eight-acre site on the southeast corner of Randall Road and McKee Street was home to Avenue Chevrolet for about 30 years, according to .

after a total of 82 years in various locations within Batavia. The family business was hit hard by the economic downturn and the Obama administration directive for General Motors to cut dealerships in order to receive bailout funding, owner John Clark said.

Batavia Enterprises announced that the Avenue Chevy property was for sale back on Feb. 21.

"This is a very important piece of property to our community," said Austin Dempsey, Batavia Enterprises Real Estate owner and broker, in the announcement. "From Randall Road, it serves as a gateway to downtown Batavia and it is a vital source of tax revenue."
