Kilwins Chocolates & Ice Cream has opened their new shoppe in downtown Geneva. The shoppe is located in Dodson Place on South 3rd St. directly across the street from The Little Traveler.

The Geneva Kilwins is the first in west suburban Chicago and the second shoppe to open in Illinois.  The Castronovo family, 30 year residents of Geneva, own and operate the store.

“Our family is so proud to bring the authentic, hand-made quality and taste of Kilwins and a true confectionery experience to Geneva, our home town” said co-owner Tom Castronovo.  “We built a high quality, landmark store which is light and bright and inviting as we wanted to make a positive impact on downtown Geneva.”

The shoppe features both indoor and outdoor seating as well as barstool seating overlooking a show kitchen. Kilwins culinary team creates a wide variety of treats including multiple varieties of Mackinac Island fudge which is kettle cooked on site and then hand paddled the old fashioned way on a 1000 pound marble table.

The team also hand makes caramel corns and peanut brittles, as well as a variety of hand dipped treats including caramel apples, fresh strawberries, pretzels, and cookies. From sight, to taste, touch, smell and sound a visit to Kilwins provides an authentic sensory and taste experience like no other.

The store also features a large variety of super premium original recipe ice cream made from antibiotic and hormone free cream with creations including store made waffle cones, sundaes, shakes, malts and soda’s.

In addition the store offers a wide variety of custom made cold beverages including custom made lemonade, limeade, and orangeade as well as signature coolers made with original recipe sorbetto.

The store also features “The Chocolate Café” complete with fine teas and coffees that include espresso and latte as well as hot chocolate and drinking chocolate.

Does 3rd Street really need another chocolate shop? Doesn't seem to make sense! There is already two outstanding chocolate shops only blocks away from each other. Geneva needs more of a variety of shops not more of the same.

Good point Rob, There are already enough people "waddling" their way down 3rd St. I don't know that another sweets shop is a good addition but best of luck to them.
