Juveniles With Air Gun in Park Arrested for Cannabis Possession

Batavia police arrests for drug possession include juveniles found at a Batavia park with an air rifle and the arrest of Geneva residents—one for cannabis, two others for syringe and controlled substances.

Juveniles With Air Rifle Arrested in Park

While on routine foot patrol, a Batavia police officer observed several juvenile subjects in Carriage Crest Park, 1000 Parkview Drive, who had in their possession two airsoft guns “that were exact replicas of real firearms,” according to a report filed around 4:19 p.m. May 25. During a search of the subjects’ backpacks, the officer discovered a container with suspected cannabis and a glass cannabis pipe. The offender, a male juvenile admitted to purchasing the items earlier in the day. The subject was taken into custody, processed and released to his mother. A referral was made to the juvenile officer.

Missing Headlight Leads to Cannabis Arrest

Batavia police arrested Matthew L. Lorenz, 23, of Geneva on charges of unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drive paraphernalia and driving with one headlight after a traffic stop around 12:33 a.m. May 25 in the 1500 block of Crissey Avenue, reports said. Lorenz was released on his signature for misdemeanor charges and has a court date of June 18.

Resisting Arrest, Controlled Substance Charges 

Police arrested Tanya Gregoire, 24, of Geneva on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle, resisting or obstructing a police officer. Police also arrested Steven Standwood, 28, on charge of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a syringe or hypodermic needle around 7:08 p.m. Mat 21 in rhw 2000 block of Peterson Place, reports said. Both were transported to Kane County Jail.
