Impressive Italian Tapas Restaurant Coming to Downtown Batavia
Gaetano's is set to locate at 15 East Wilson Street, maybe as soon as March
A highly-rated Northern Italian restaurant is coming to the corner of West Wilson and North River Street, maybe as soon as March.
Gaetano’s is a fusion tapas restaurant founded by Executive Chef Gaetano Di Benedetto, who hails from "the lush coastal town of Bagheria, located just outside of Palermo, Sicily," according to the Gaetano's website.
There is a Gaetano's in Forest Park, and it has done very well.
"Gaetano's has received rave reviews from the Chicago Sun Times, it was the 2013 Winner of the Open Table Diners' Choice award, and received other awards and flavorful reviews from Zagat, Chicago's Best, Yelp, Urban Spoon (and) OakParkDining.com," according to a Thursday eblast from Batavia MainStreet.
The menu is impressive, as well. Its highest-price offering is a $75-per-person "chef's choice," billed as "a four-course, family-style dinner, personalized to your dietary needs."
But the menu also offers a variety of hand-crafted pastas, ranging from $19 for the Rigatoni alla Trasteverina to $27 for the Papparedelle ai funghi selvaggi, "tossed with wild mushrooms, sautéed with garlic, shallots and white wine, finished with parmigiano."
The menu offers a variety of salads, soups, antipasti and meats, including the Ribeye di manzo al fumo ($36), a "prime ribeye steak baked on ceder, with Herb de Provence and bay leaves, served with Gaetano’s horse radish sauce and sauteed asparagus."
There's also a $34-per-person option for wine pairings.
"Leave the thinking to us and enjoy a truly wonderful dining experience. Let us cater to your taste buds and wow you with originality, creativity and mouth watering flavors. Highly recommended by Chef Gaetano!" the menu says.
The "About Us" portion of the website offers Gaetano's credentials.
He teachers culinary art in both Italian culinary colleges and colleges here in the United States, and the Italian Government awarded Gaetano with the “Ospitalita Italiana” award for its authentic Italian cuisine.
