Flood Pushes Batavia's May 18 'Cocktails in the Park' to New Location

Did someone say 'Spring, Cocktails, Tasty Small Plates and Live Music?

Batavia MainStreet is gearing up for the 2nd Annual Cocktails in the Park from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday May 18, 2013, at a new location this year.

"Due to the recent flooding MainStreet had to relocate the event from Clark Island to the East Bend of the Riverwalk just east of City Hall in downtown Batavia," according to a Batavia Main Street press release.

Now named Cocktails in the Park, the event is a fundraiser dedicated to showcasing Batavia restaurants and is an opportunity to discover a unique location in Downtown Batavia; all while raising funds and awareness for Batavia MainStreet and their revitalization efforts for the downtown.

"Last year, Cocktails on Clark received rave reviews and we are thrilled to be bringing it back again this year as our annual fundraiser for downtown Batavia." said Joi Cuartero, executive director of Batavia MainStreet. "We invite the community to enjoy a casual atmosphere in our new location on the Riverwalk, small bites from downtown restaurants and have fun while raising funds! We can't want to see you there."

“It is amazing that a year later there is still a buzz about the first Cocktails on Clark event,” committee chair Jamie Saam said. “This is a testament to the fact that people in our community are interested in unique events and excited for the chance to explore and support our downtown and its businesses in a fun way. We have a talented group of committed Batavians working hard to make the second annual event even more memorable than last year.”

Three hundred guests enjoyed great food, cocktails, music and live auction last year and saw Clark Island transformed from a recreational hub to an evening getaway. The event brought in more than $12,000 to help Batavia MainStreet efforts to plan for, preserve and promote downtown Batavia.

This year's event is sponsored by K. Hollis Jewelers.
