Batavia Gas Guide: $3.85 at Sam's Club, But You've Got to Pay a Member Fee

Gas prices in the Tri-Cities are—here's a shocker—higher than the state and national averages.

Tri-Cities gas prices continued to outpace the statewide average price of a gallon of regular gasoline, which was $3.992 Wednesday.

Paid-membership gas stations Sam’s Club in Batavia and Costco in St. Charles had the No. 1 and No. 2 lowest prices per gallon of regular gasoline in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, according to Illinois Gas Prices.

AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed that nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline late Wednesday was $3.621 a gallon, up slightly from $3.626 a day earlier and up from $3.660 a week ago. The national average of a gallon of regular gas a month ago was $3.500, and was $3.636 a year ago. The highest recorded national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.114 on July 17, 2008.
