Batavia Football Blacks Out Cancer (PHOTOS)
See close-ups of the Bulldogs gear from the game and their contribution to the fight against cancer.
The Batavia Bulldogs football team switched up their colors for a great cause on Sept. 28.
The Dogs went all black with a touch of pink for their game against Larkin at Batavia High School. It was their way to "Black Out Cancer" at Pink Night and BYF Night at Bulldog Stadium. The event was in support of the American Cancer Society.
The players matched the colors throughout the crowd, many wearing the black shirt with the word "Batavia" in pink lettering sold that week. On the back of their helmets a pink ribbon was visible for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Batavian Sarah Livingston helped out with the game's coin toss. The Bulldogs also had a sticker on their helmets for Alex Kintz, a resident, classmate and friend who fought cancer for 17 months. He passed away on May 1, 2009, at age 14.
Several events are held throughout the year to remember Alex and everyone who fights the battle against cancer. The annual Kane County Relay for Life features Alex's Army Relay Teams.
