Update: BATV Reality Show Holds 1st Auditions

Here's a brief recap of how auditions went Sunday at the Batavia Public Library.

A group of talented hopefuls gathered in Batavia on Sunday in the hopes of earning a spot in a local reality show.

Batavia Access Television, better known as BATV, held its first round of auditions at the Batavia Public Library for its Project Publish reality series.

Each week the series will pair authors and performers together for a total cast of 14 people. The authors come up with a piece that their partner must then perform by the end of the week. The author-performer duos will compete in groups and survive weekly eliminations to be the last group standing.

At least one audition on Sunday featured musical talents, as shown in pictures on this page. Rebecca Strand of Batavia performed with her guitar in front of judges. Her tryout also included turning a writer’s short story into an impromptu song, according to Kimberly Kozar, Project Publish producer and BATV intern.

The next round of auditions will be held this Sunday, Jan. 20 at the St. Charles Public Library. To register for auditions as a writer, performer or crew member, go to batv.us and click on the Project Publish link.
