Waterline Writers Event 7p Tonight at Water St. Studios

The next Waterline Writers event is this Sunday, March 18,  at 7 p.m. at , 160 S. Water St. in Batavia.

On the third Sunday of each month we invite writers to read excerpts from their work.

This includes poets, storytellers, spoken word artists, playwrights, songwriters, and comedians to read from their novels, short stories, poetry, plays, lyrics, spoken word, experimental work, multi-media work, stand-up comedy and other similar works.

Gary Granberg

Gary Granberg is a bit of a Batavia Renaissance man. When he isn't high in the tops of area trees at the helm of Granberg Treeworks, he can be found writing or performing spoken word at the Green Mill in Chicago. He is the father of two sons, as well as a musician, skier and biker, even serving as part of the Batavia Bicycle Advisory Commission.

Nik V. Markevicius

Nik V. Markevicius is a half-crazy wordslinger who lives and breathes all those what-ifs you'd rather not think about. He is the author of 8 novels and counting, plus a column about writing at Examiner.com. Not only does he hear the little voices in his head, he argues with them. Donna Pucciani

Donna Pucciani, Chicago-based poet, has published poems in the U.S., Europe, Australia and Asia in such diverse journals as International Poetry Review, The Pedestal, Shi Chao Poetry, Spoon River Poetry, Journal of the American Medical Association and Christianity and Literature. Her work has been translated in Italian, Chinese and Japanese. Her books include The Other Side of Thunder, Jumping Off theTrain, Chasing the Saints, and To Sip Darjeeling at Dawn. A three-time Pushcart nominee, she has won awards from the Illinois Arts Council, The National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and Poetry on the Lake.
Jenny Scott is a freelance writer who has worked for advertising agencies and newspapers. She has had short stories and poetry published in The Antigonish Review, Blue Mountain Arts Books, Nostalgia Magazine, Arts Beat, and The Batavia Writers Literary Journal. She was the poetry editor of Arts Beat for one year. She is currently working on her first novel.

Neill E. Shanahan

Neill E. Shanahan has been a Network Playwright at Chicago Dramatists since 2003. His play, Mandatum, was read in the Saturday Series in February 2005 and received additional readings at the Director’s Lab in November 2005 and in Chicago Dramatists’ Monday Series in November 2006. His play, Miranda’s World was read in the Saturday Series in March, 2011 and in the Monday Series. He has submitted several full-length plays to the Chicago Dramatists’ Script Lab and developed work through several classes at Chicago Dramatists. An Executive Search consultant, he has served on the organization’s Board of Directors since 2006 and is currently President of the Board.

Laura E. Vasilion

Laura E. Vasilion is a freelance writer with 23 years experience writing for national and international publications including Readers Digest, Newsweek, and Entrepreneur magazines. For 15 years she was a frequent contributor to the Chicago Tribune magazine and newspaper where she wrote essays, feature articles, and profiles on a variety of subjects and people. For the past 12 years, she has been a staff writer for Nutrition and Foodservice Edge magazine, where she writes features stories and three monthly columns.  Her first novel, nearing completion this year, is set in WWII Iceland. Inspired by her father’s experiences as a Navy Photomate, she spent six years researching her book, traveling to Iceland twice and many places in between. War’s final cost, to those who fought it and those who survived it, is the underlying theme of the novel.
