2013 Art In Your Eye Seeks Poster Artist Nominations

The chosen artwork will be used to help promote Batavia’s Art in Your Eye Festival.

The Art in Your Eye Festival Steering Committee seeks nominations for its 2013 Poster Artist.

Those who “live, work, or in some way contribute to the art community of Batavia” are encouraged to submit a piece for consideration.

An image of the chosen artwork will be used on the 2013 Art in Your Eye Fine Art Poster. The Art in Your Eye Festival then either purchases the winning artwork or another piece by the artist, which then is donated to the city of Batavia’s City Art Collection, displayed on Batavia City Hall’s second floor.

“As a permanent reminder of the community’s appreciation and support for self-expression through the visual arts, the gifting of the poster art to the city is very important,” said Batavia City Administrator Bill McGrath. “The City Gallery at the Government Center tells those there for business or just visiting what some of our most important values are.

“On a broader basis, whether self-expression is through any of the arts, athletics, one’s spiritual life or devotion to family, Batavia has always been a strong supporter of those who ‘do’,” McGrath said.

Artists may nominate themselves and are encouraged to do so.

The artist will be selected by the volunteer-based, Art in Your Eye Festival Steering Committee, based solely on the discretion of the committee.

A short paragraph about how the nominee meets the criteria should be submitted, along with a link to the artist’s website or samples of the artist’s work. Submissions can be emailed to info@artinyoureye.com or mailed to the address below. The deadline for submissions is March 5. 2013. No late submissions will be considered.
