UPDATES: What's Closed in Batavia Due to the Cold?

The library will close at 5 p.m. Monday but will be open all day Tuesday. The Batavia Park District has canceled its classes and will close its offices Monday due to the extreme cold. All Kane County forest preserves are closed.

In addition to schools, which will be closed Tuesday as well as Monday, the Batavia Park District has canceled classes and will close offices due to the record cold expected Monday. 

(1) The Batavia Park District Cancels Programs

Due to the dangerous weather predicted and in the interest of safety for our patrons and staff, Batavia Park District programs are canceled and offices will be closed tomorrow, Jan. 6. All program participants will be contacted by office personnel. Please stay safe (and warm)!

(2) UPDATE 1:50 PM MON: Batavia Library Will Close Early Monday

The library was closed at 3 p.m. Sunday due to the weather and will close at 5 p.m. Monday. It expects to be open all day Tuesday, starting at 9 a.m. Visit the website for updates.

(3) City Hall Appears to Be Open

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, nothing on the city website indicates that Batavia City Hall will be closed Monday. The city of Geneva has closed its City Hall. A Batavia City Council meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday.

(5) All Kane County forest preserves and facilities will be closed to the public on Monday, Jan. 6, due to severe weather conditions.

The closures are to protect the safety and health of employees and the public, during well-below freezing temperatures and windchill factors.

All preserves are expected to reopen to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

(6) The Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Clothes Closet will be closed today, Monday, January 6, 2014 due to the weather.
