"Almost every sponsor has not seen their dog," said Joanne Spitz, Batavia Foundation for Educational Excellence Chair. The foundation partnered with the Batavia Library Foundation and the Batavia Parks Foundation for the project.

Some of the sponsors have given artists instructions and some preferences, but otherwise they have let the artists alone with their creative process.

Each bulldog will be introduced with its artist and sponsors tonight. Meet them and see their amazing work.

This weekend the dogs will be disbursed across downtown in a five-to-six block radius, Spitz said.

Before you feast your eyes on the doggies, you can participate in the Green Walk.

The Green Walk will be held along the Donovan Bridge starting at 5 p.m. June 1-10. Batavia MainStreet is partnering with the Batavia Community Garden, Batavia Environmental Commission, Batavia Bicycle Commission and other green partners to present a Green Walk. Local groups will have demonstrations and displays to raise awareness of the art of going green.
