According to the article, deputies arrived to find a 52-year-old male with a rifle who lives at the residence. Deputies attempted to get the man to drop the rifle, but he refused to do so and then pointed it at the deputies. A sheriff’s sergeant then shot the man. Batavia paramedics transported him to Mercy Center Hospital, where he was reported by the release to be in critical condition.Later in the evening, the Sheriff's Office issued a second release, stating that the man had died about 7:30 p.m.
