Geneva's First Annual Trick or Trot 10k Is Another Step to Combat Childhood Disease

A run through Geneva is the perfect to burn calories prior to the Harvest Taste coming Saturday in downtown Geneva.

Start celebrating Halloween early by burning some calories Saturday morning in the first-ever Trick or Trot 10k through downtown Geneva.

What could be better than a healthy jog through the historic streets on a cool, fall morning? Maybe the post-race party and breakfast or the knowledge that you've got enough room to sample the desserts and appetisers of the best chefs in the area in the 2nd annual "Harvest Taste" that starts at 1:30 p.m. at The Little Traveler.

Oh, and then there's the good feeling you get knowing that the procedes from the race help chronically ill kids live better lives. The race is one of the Pumpkins for a Cure benefit hosted by the Zellmer Childhood Disease Foundation.

On race day, the registration desk opens at 6 a.m. and the race itself starts at 7:30 a.m. at the Geneva courthouse. The Trick or Trot winds through the downtown, then onto the Fox River Trail, by the Fabyan Gardens and then returns to the streets of Geneva and the courthouse lawn.

You can register online through 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. Packet pickup is at the registraton desk on the day of the race or at Geneva Running Outfitters, 221 West State St., Geneva, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, or Friday, Sept. 28.

Every entrant will receive a technical race T-shirt, and breakfast will be served until 11 a.m. Relax and enjoy the music and entertainment.

The registration fee is $45 prior to the race and $50 on race day. You can fill out the online registration form or download the registration form.  Make checks payable and mail the registration fee to the Zellmer Childhood Disease Foundation, NFP, 328 S. Third St., Geneva, IL 60134.

Awards will be given to top three males and females overall, and competition is in the follow age groups: 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 plus.

Awards also will be given for Best Male Costume, Best Female Costume, Best Couples Costume, Scariest Costume and Funniest Costume.

Race organizers will provide chips for race timing.
