Tune In Now for Big Things Happening at BATV

Batavia Access Television Launches New Branding and Website.

Throughout the summer, a large sign outside of Batavia High School teased passersby with “Something BIG is about to happen at BATV. Stay Tuned!” The “big” moment is now.

On Monday, Aug. 26, the look of BATV will change with the launch of a new website as part of their re-branding efforts. The new, easier-to-navigate website is www.MyBatv.com. According to BATV’s station manager, Holly Deitchman, the new brand better reflects the mission and vision of the public access television station going forward.

“As the story of Batavia continues to grow and change, the staff and board members of BATV thought it was time for BATV to create a new strategic plan,” explains Deitchman. “With the expanded website and new platform, most of our programming will now be available on demand.”

This means viewers have another way to watch unique programming created by BATV. Three core shows have debuted this year with more new programming set to air in 2014:
•    “Out on the Town” is a monthly show hosted by Jeff Matter and Joi Cuartero. It spotlights recreation and entertainment in Batavia and the surrounding communities and premiered in February 2013.
•    “Viewpoint” is an in-depth, roundtable discussion of a "hot" topic in the community. Hosted by Kathy Gresey, editor of the Kane County Chronicle, the first episode premiered in July 2013.
•    “It's New to Me!”  is a studio highlight show with segments from the Batavia Park District, the City of Batavia, and the Batavia School District; as well as other sports and community clips. This show premiered in August 2013.
•    “I Didn't Know That!” will be a “how-to" show.  The hosts will visit local businesses to learn about a specific process, product, or service.  Look for this show on BATV in 2014.
•    “The Local Shopper” will feature local businesses. Also coming in 2014, the program will encourage consumers to shop local first.

These shows join two other programs currently airing on demand: “Live from Kiss the Sky” and “Vinyl Revolution.” Deitchman also indicated that sports coverage (“GameDay”) games will stream live online, but will not be available on demand.

As Batavia evolves, BATV will evolve. This makes for an exciting future, says BATV board member Alan Berger.

“BATV strives to produce and deliver timely, high quality, community-based programming to our viewers,” says Berger. “Volunteers and staff work hard to build and maintain a video delivery platform that reaches a diverse and technologically savvy viewership.

“We are proud to be a part of Batavia’s growth and diversity,” he adds. “So, indeed, stay tuned to BATV for new and exciting programming.”

Tune in Monday for a fresh take on Batavia Access Television. And, don’t forget to tune in often for continued fresh programming – coming to you online and through your TV set.
