‘Tis the Season for Giving, Networking and Glad Tidings

Annual Batavia Women in Business Holiday Networking Luncheon Collects Toys for ACCESS Toy Drive and Donations to Batavia United Way Adopt A Family

Batavia, Ill. – November 26, 2013 – Network your way into holiday cheer with Batavia Women in Business (BWIB). On Tuesday, Dec. 10, this active sub-group of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual holiday networking luncheon at Fox Valley Country Club, 2500 North Route 25, North Aurora.

The event costs $25 for members and $30 for non-members and guests and begins at 11:30 a.m. Pre-registration for the luncheon is necessary by Friday, Dec. 6; contact Batavia Chamber online at www.bataviachamber.org/programs   or call (630) 879-7134.

Women Who Inspire Award

At this year’s luncheon, the group will present a Women Who Inspire award to Jamie Saam of Batavia. Saam joins Linda Bi, president of Chicago Expert Importers in Batavia, as Women Who Inspire honorees in 2013.

Saam exemplifies the season of giving as a Batavia city council member, a director for Batavia MainStreet, co-owner of Bulldog Plumbing with her husband, Doug; a mother of two boys, and an active volunteer leader in many local organizations.  Elizabeth Evensen summarized Saam’s accomplishments with this statement.

“She is everything Batavia deserves,” said Evensen in her nomination form. “She inspires the younger citizens to embrace their community.”

Raffles Support Two Philanthropic Programs

Attendees will have the opportunity to win some wonderful baskets donated by member and area businesses. Money raised from this raffle will benefit the Batavia ACCESS Toy Drive and the Batavia United Way Adopt A Family program. Businesses who would like to market their business are encouraged to donate to the raffle. It is not too late to donate a raffle prize, call Batavia Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Besides enjoying the food, raffles and networking opportunities, attendees are asked to bring unwrapped new toys, new hats and mittens for the Batavia ACCESS Toy Drive. This year marks 35 years of providing toys to deserving families. For more information on Batavia ACCESS Toy Drive, contact the City of Batavia at (630) 454-2000.

In addition, anyone who wishes to donate gift cards to the Batavia United Way Adopt A Family program may bring those. For more information about the Adopt A Family program, contact Jody Haltenhof, executive director of Batavia United Way at (630) 879-4041.

“The focus of the annual event is to celebrate the holidays by renewing old friendships and encouraging new ones,” says Kate Sullivan of Neighbors Magazine, co-chair of the BWIB Council. “Particularly important are the charities we are supporting through donations and our raffles.”

Even though BWIB is focused on businesswomen, men are encouraged to expand their network as well by checking out the group.
